As parents it is natural to want to bring up all our children alike or train them the same way. It is better to discern individuality and God given gifts of each one. We can help develope their natural inclination and support healthy self-will by talking to teachers, grand parents and other parents; this way we can help each childs’ individual growth and capacity.
Sometimes we want to make all the choices for our children but this will not help them responsibly grow into their adulthood. We are and must continue to teach them how to make decisions based on the word of God and after seeking wise counsel. This gives us comfort in knowing we don’t have to be present everytime they are presented with a challenge to choose between right and wrong. When we train them up to choose the right way they will remain on or go back to the right path.
Training up a child includes parental discipline to help them grow; because they don’t always obey. This is not to discourage them but done because we love them. Parenting is hard work and requires much patience to Raise Outstanding Christian Kids in a way that honors Christ. We must not let anger and frustration be the cause of correction; instead, our love driven parenting should model Jesus’s love for his people. This helps their development as followers of Christ and gives them a better understanding of his grace.
The way we are at home with our children and families proves our faith in Him. Balancing parenting along with lifes’ circumstances takes practice as it is easy to become demanding, irritable or unfair. When we do, our children should still honor us as we can be gentle with them during their disobedience and unpleasant episodes. We still must strive to be caring and loving when we interact with one another; taking on the character of Christ and putting the others intetest above our own.
